Masaji Nishimura

Masaji Nishimura obtained his MD at the Osaka University Medical School, Osaka, Japan in 1981 and his PhD in 1989.

Since 2004 he had been a Professor at the University of Tokushima Graduate School, Tokushima City in Japan. He moved to the Tokushima Prefectural Central Hospital (Director of the hospital) in 2018. He is a Registered Anesthetist, received the Diploma of Board of Japan Society of Anesthesiology, Diploma of Board of Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine and is a Fellow of the Japanese Association for Acute Medicine.

Professor Nishimura is a member of several Professional Associations including the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine, Japanese Association for Acute Medicine, American Thoracic Society, European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and Society of Critical Care Medicine. His major research interests include studies on the work of breathing, ventilator-induced lung injury, mechanical ventilation for ALI/ARDS and infection control. He has been involved in the publication of over 100 peer-reviewed articles and papers.
