Ana María Montañez Mendoza MD, was born in Lima- Perú. She graduated at the Major Nacional University of San Marcos (Lima) in 1981.She realized her internal medicine residency at the Navy Hospital in Lima and realized intensive medicine also in the same hospital and completed her residency at the ABC Hospital in Mexico D,F.(1993)
She joined the Intensive Critical Department of Navy Hospital with the intensive medicine post- graduate of San Marcos University in 1998, being appointed Profesor in 1999. She was head of the Intensive Care Unit (after Service) of Navy Hospital from 1993 to 2003. She was Presidente of the Peruvian Society of Intensive Medicine (SOPEMI) from 2001-2003.
She has published many papers and chapters in books and magazines all related to intensive care and ethical medical care. She is Magíster in Ethical from OPS and San Marcos University.

Also she is Magister in Health Administration from San Martin University in Lima. She is Presidente of Recertification Committee of Intensive Medicine of Peruvian Medical College and she is member of Ethical Committee of Peruvian Medical Collage. Now she is theTreasurer of Panamerican and Iberican of Intensive Medicine Societies from 2003 to 2007.
